Tradeshow guidelines for workers
The Northwest Kansas Travel Council booth is a regional booth. Workers are there to represent the area, and not just their individual communities or county. It is very important that workers have a good working knowledge of the region
--it's attractions, lakes, hunting information, contact information, and where to find information when questions are asked. With that in mind, the following is recommended:Attendance at a minimum of one-half of the yearly Travel Council meetings. We have 11 meetings a year, so this means at least six meetings. It is our feeling that unless a person attends the Travel Council meetings, they will not have a good working knowledge of the group and its goals. In addition, traveling the area familiarizes the member with the entire area.
New members of the Travel Council will be allowed to work providing that they have made an effort to attend as many meetings as possible in advance of the shows, AND they work with a longer-term member (at the discretion of show manager).
Exceptions can be made to people who are known to have an excellent knowledge of the region and the workings of the Travel Council.
It is very important that everyone who works at the Travel Council booth realize that this is what we do. This is who the Travel Council is. We represent tourism in Northwest Kansas, and our reputation is on the line. We have all worked very hard at making this organization one that is respected and noticed around the state.
The State Travel and Tourism Division has taken note of this and is now eager to work in partnership with us. This recognition has not come easy, and it imperative that we work hard to maintain our relationship with them. Having a professional, knowledgeable, and dependable staff at our trade show booths is a testament to our tourism commitment, not only to Northwest Kansas, but also to the state of Kansas.
